The Wildflower is that person you saw sing in a pub that knocked you off your feet. It’s your best friend who has always had a voice that makes people listen. It’s your Mother, or Grandmother, singing with a classic disney-style vibrato in the kitchen, for only you to hear. Wildflowers grow wild; they are untouched, unmoulded, and exist just as they are. There are wildflowers all around us; artists, writers, and talent in abundance.

My debut single explores my own pursuit of professional art, as a bonsai tree, in comparison to the wildflowers of life. I have spent 10 years shaping my growth, a balance of wild and tame, and now it can bloom. There is no right way to be an artist, as long as your voice is heard. As I’ve introduced this story to audiences this year, I have sold wildflower seeds around the country. This virtual map documents where they are growing around the UK and Ireland, to remind us there are wildflowers everywhere, artists in every corner, and we all matter.
